ThrUSB
A USB flash drive that doesn't consume a USB port.
Project Brief
A team of other developers and I jointly pitched ThrUSB at a Startup Weekend on the Sunshine Coast, which featured solid-state storage, with USB pass-through for using & charging devices. Such a device was created as a solution to the decreasing number of USB ports available on portable computers, providing extra storage, while still allowing the user to use or charge another device in the pass-through USB port.
We researched, created, and refined the hardware, and launched the product on a crowdfunding website. Unfortunately, it did not hit its funding target, and with this and shifting technologies in mind, we decided to pack the venture down.
